Small Groups are an opportunity to focus on a single topic with a cohort there to give you feedback and encouragement. Each group will meet monthly, using their own unique meeting link.
Small groups will continue in 2023 and we are working on which existing groups will continue and what new groups will start. Check back in January for the new groups.

Small Groups for 2022
All About Paper Piecing
Our paper piecing small group is perfect for any skill level. Beginners will learn tips and tricks from more experienced team members and those with experience will get to share their knowledge. We’ll be covering all the tips and tricks, alternative techniques, and learning how to create our own patterns from scratch among other skills.

Block of the Month
The 2022 BOM is focused on building a medallion quilt. Participants will choose their own block for the center and design the quilt around it. There will be 6 border themes assigned over the course of the year culminating in a finished quilt top. Participants will be guided through the process of designing their borders by our BOM Leader. This is an excellent opportunity to up your quilt design game. Skills used: design, quilt math.

Deep Dive on Machine Quilting
Whether you have a domestic machine, mid-arm, or long-arm, this group is for anyone who would like improve their machine quilting skills. We’ll explore books, classes and online content that’s available for learning. However, this Small Group isn’t just about studying, its primary focus will be on PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE. Each team member will set their own practice goals, and the Team will provide support and accountability as you work towards your goal. This Team is for any member who would like to improve their machine quilting skills regardless of your current level.

Improv Quilting
Join us each month for a lively discussion on all things Improv Quilting. We’ll be discussing everything from design approaches to piecing methods. This is a great group for all skill levels.

Sustainable Quilting
This group is all about keeping fabric out of landfills. Throughout the year we will be making donation quilts using discarded jeans and other fabrics. Join us each month to get ideas on re-using fabrics to save the environment and help those in need.

Working in a Series
This group is perfect for those who’d like to take a page from Heidi Parkes’ book and dive into the idea of quilting a series of projects. Is there a particular topic, theme or technique you’ve been wanting to explore more thoroughly? Join us!
Each member will select a topic and develop a series of at least 3 projects of self-determined sizes. Our monthly group discussions will center on what we’re learning and where we want to take our work next.
